Why Choose Certified Organic Tea?

When shopping for organic teas it can be helpful to know the difference between 'Organic' and 'Certified Organic'. Anyone can refer to their own products as 'Organic' as currently this is not monitored by any agency. The use of the words 'Certified Organic' however is overseen by a number of internationally recognised governing bodies in Australia to ensure organic integrity.

The Tea Hut Certified Organic

Certified Organic Guarantee

In order to guarantee that products are truly organic, they need to be certified. When you purchase certified organic teas you can rest assured knowing that they are grown and processed without the use of synthetic chemicals or fertilisers for a minimum of a three year period. The Tea Hut has been assessed and our operations inspected to ensure that we continue to uphold the integrity of any product claiming certified organic status.

Australian Certified Organic (ACO)

The ACO are Australia's largest certifier for organic produce whether grown in Australia or imported, they are one of the most respected and rigorous organic standards in the world for organic production. Organic certification involves auditing an operation’s methods to ensure that they comply with the guidelines of organic production and to allow trace back of all products to their origin. As one of the strictest standards in Australia, the ACO brings together the requirements of national and international relevant standards so consumers have a simple choice when buying organic produce.

The ACO standards setting follows a highly transparent process with the industry’s key stakeholders and the Standard is reviewed every three years to ensure it meets industry expectations and changes with new practices and research. The Standard is upheld by regular and random annual audits of all certified organic businesses to ensure continual compliance. You can see which products are certified organic on our website as they will contain the words 'certified organic' in the product name and each tea category can also be filtered by sub category for organic products.

Is The Tea Hut a Certified Organic business?

Yes, The Tea Hut is certified by the ACO, this means that we undergo the rigorous auditing process to achieve certification. You may view our current Organic Certificate here for a list of products currently certified as organic, this will be updated as new products are added.
